The time spent stuck in a flying vehicle with no where to go but your seat and the loo, can cause a lot of discomfort. Clothing shouldn’t be the main restriction to our movement during such gruelling times. Although I admit, I used to be the one who wobbled through the airport in my high heels and jeans while carrying a full 7kg carry on bag, a literal carry on. I sometimes still do when wearing heels would lessen the load on my luggage (hello Philippine trip 2012). But trust me, that was not fun. And in today’s society, comfort and easy clothing is not an outfit exclusive to sleeping. I mean, pyjama chic was a fashion trend a couple of years ago, wasn’t it? So when we left colder New Zealand a couple of days ago for a long holiday to the warmer Philippines, there was not a doubt in my mind I’d be opting for comfortable chic. nnnnTop: Thrifted Shorts: Cotton On Shoes: Philippine Ukay Bag: Laura Jones via Strandbags

As clichu00e9 as it may sound, life, as many would know it, has gotten in the way. And itu2019s true. University work has been my top priority for me in 2018. I was too hungry for high marks that everything else around my life hit pause. In saying that, though, that pause was mostly due to me being too comfortable in taking unnecessary breaks from any sort of other work, napping more than I should and once again failing to take action. It left me only a tiny bit of time to work on my university requirements. nnnn nnnnEvery year, without fail, Iu2019d be spending hours on the computer reading different articles about effective ways of productivity. While very inspiring indeed, and I’m sure it all had been effective to the person sharing it (or they wouldn’t even share it at all), I, however, fail to take action. Organization and idea generation was never a difficult task for me. However, so does procrastination and making excuses. Iu2019ve heard and read it all, all the quotes and blog posts. But without any action, those words of wisdom remain words. nnnnIt was exciting taking those memories out from their dusty archives as I stroll through historical exhibits at Ayala Museum last Friday. Back in my high school days, there werenu2019t any museums I know of that was as informative as my time spent there. As a Filipino, I was thrilled to see first hand the gold of my ancestors and the clothes of the past still in a condition well enough to study closely and scan its details. As a fashion design student, it was overwhelmingly stimulating. I was so gutted my pen was not in my bag. As photographs were forbidden, my next best chance to record all my discoveries would have been pen on paper. Unfortunately, I had to try and draw (quite unsuccessfully) on my phone and type what I could. Thank God for published pages of the exhibit, I was able to purchase the Art and The Order of Nature: The Mercedes Zobel Collection of Indigenous Philippine Textiles book with words by Patricia Araneta and Amihan Roldan Lim. All is not lost.
